Day four of the spring 2013 shows at New York Fashion Week gave us a look at some of the most coveted designers’ collections. At Lela Rose, we saw shimmering, diaphanous materials used in the service of devastatingly feminine silhouettes and aceented with organically inspired embellishments. Tracy Reese took a similarly ladylike and shimmery tack, but augmented the look with sporty separates and more casual shapes....
On the other side of the coin, Diane von Furstenberg sent out a striking collection in bold single hues, with kaftan and salwar kameez inspired silhouettes. And at Thakoon, the designer showcased his talent for using decorative elements to elevate garments, adding gorgeous complexity to his pieces with swathes of sheer and semi-sheer fabric.
The day’s most successful shows suggested a perceptible shift towards more sheer, softly constructed pieces for spring 2013, a trend that the shows in the days ahead may give even more staying power.
