The 23-year-old singer – whose racy performance on the ITV1 programme last year prompted a number complaints – sang her latest single We Found Love while wearing a high-necked tartan dress and X-rated footwear in front of millions watching on TV.MORE: Rihanna's top 5 controversial moments... so far
An X Factor spokesman told The Sun newspaper: 'There were no close up shots of Rihanna's shoes. We believe the performance was suitable.'
The £100 shoes - which were created by Indian-born London designer Ashish Gupta and British rock 'n' roll footwear company Underground - feature gold studs and come with a Tipp-Ex pen for people to add their own design.
Two fans who were sitting in the front row of the audience gasped when they noticed the Bajan stunner's shoes.
Lucy Morgan, 18, said: 'I was shocked. She's a rebel.'
Tamzin Lewis, 19, added: 'They should have known she'd do something like that.'
The show ended with Craig Colton - one of the early favourites in the competition - being eliminated following a sing-off with blonde beauty Amelia Lily, who only re-entered the X Factor last week as a replacement for axed contestant Frankie Cocozza.
