Ready to take the Lincoln Center stage, Angelina Jolie was among those on-hand for the 3rd Annual Women in the World Summit in New York City on Thursday evening (March 8).
The 36-year-old actress looked classy in a white blazer over a pearl top with black pants as she gave a wave to photographers lining the arrivals area before heading inside the David H. Koch Theater.
Other big names joining in on the three day event centered on addressing problems facing women of all ages include dignitaries such as Madeleine Albright and Hillary Clinton, as well as Oscar winning actress Meryl Streep.
During her time onstage, Angelina addressed the audience by telling the story of an obstetrician named Dr. Hawa Abdi, who runs a life-saving medical camp in Somalia which is now being overrun by militants.
Jolie praisefully said that Dr. Abdi’s story “illuminates the nightmare of tens of millions around the world the internally displaced and the ones homeless within their homelands.”
Noting the need for help, she then added that a businessman has just arrived at the camp area with a group of militants in tow, saying, “It is, right now, Friday morning in Somalia. In a few hours, 400 human beings are about to become, once again, displaced.” stylebistro
